On Top Of The Hood

On Top Of The Hood, originally uploaded by mmilway.

Again, classic car show. This is on the hood of a old Chevy. The
hood ornament may have been where the American auto industry went
south. Rolls Royce still has a hood ornament and they are doing great
business. you might see that ornament tomorrow.

Singer #9

Singer #9, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I guess Singer, the sowing machine giants, used to make cars. Not to
be confused with the micro-instrument maker Singer Instruments.....but
you already knew that.

Closer Than They Appear

Closer Than They Appear, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I think this mirror was on a Triumph. Looking at the attention to
detail on the old classic cars I think its pretty easy to see where
the auto industry went wrong. Unions.

Red Jag

Red Jag, originally uploaded by mmilway.

There was a classic car show near my house this weekend and I spent a
good chunk on time down there taking pictures of grills and hood
ornaments. When I got home I realized that I hadn't taken many
pictures of the actual cars. Oh well I think you can get a good sense
of the car bases on the hood ornament. My next bunch will probably be
from this event...so I hope you like them!

All You Need Is Spray Paint

All You Need Is Spray Paint, originally uploaded by mmilway.

A lot of the stuff I've been posting has been from taken in the
country or on the beach. I thought I would post something a little
more "urban". The graffiti here has a lot less grit than other cities.

Wild Horses

Wild Horses, originally uploaded by mmilway.

The vet college just turned a field next to my building into a horse
rehab yard. Its pretty nice to take a break from the microscope to
watch the horses trot around...I think they call it stomping the
yard. Charlottetown was just named the worst run city in Canada by
Macleans but I'm not sure if any of the other cities on the list have
a field of horses running around right in the middle of the town.

A Snail's Trail

A Snail's Trail, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I saw this snail on Tea Hill Beach. There are two types of beach on
this island. White sands and lifeless or Red Sand and covered with
snails and crabs and jelly fish etc. Both are good.

Sand Castle

Sand Castle, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I would have posted this on YouTube but their oppressive music regulations would never have let a Beatles song. We are preparing for a another run at it. Our tools were not quite up to the task. Next time we are at the beach we'll be prepared. We will also wear sunscreen.

A Luniversary

A Luniversary, originally uploaded by mmilway.

July 20th, 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon. If
you would like to learn more about the moon landing and the Apollo
missions (without reading) you should check out the HBO miniseries
From The Earth To The Moon or the incredible movie In The Shadow Of
The Moon
. I wasn't alive but I know where I was when I learned about
it the first time.

Summer Foilage? :-S

Summer Foilage? :-S, originally uploaded by mmilway.

Seeing as we are now on the wrong half of summer I thought I would
look to the future. I took this picture last week. We had a couple
of frost warnings but I think this foilage is not related to that
hopefully.

Note: I know its spelled and pronounced "foliage" but i prefer the my
spelling and pronunciation.

House on Hill

House on Hill, originally uploaded by mmilway.

This is on the road between Halifax and New Brunswick. I took this
without looking at my camera so its a little overexposed but i think
it turned out pretty all right.

Garbage

Garbage, originally uploaded by mmilway.

We are at Day 7 of our city strike here! Garbage is really starting
to pile up. Just kidding. I just wanted to show Torontonians what a
normal amount of garbage looks like

Church Sky

Church Sky, originally uploaded by mmilway.

This church is like my CN Tower (or that big blue building in London)
I think I start every walk with a picture of it. By the end of my
stay here I'll probably have about 700 photo of it.

Are You Calling Me Yellow?

Are You Calling me Yellow?, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I think this was a dandelion farm. The crop was in full bloom! I
don't know about you but I buy all my dandelions from local farmers.

United SUCKS!

It sounds awfully similar to my Chicago to Halifax in which my bag was torn apart and its contents returnted to me in taters and in a garbage bag. Apparently this music video has given the musician a second life as United has contacted him (imagine that) to talk about his issues.

The Memorial

I just watched the MJ memorial service and have been hearing about it all day. I wrote last week that his last 15 years would make it difficult to hear all the eulogies and it was (especially Al Sharpton). Some of the highlights, in my mind, included the daughter and son of Martin Luther King Jr., Smokey Robinson, and Barry Gordy.

Well, last week Bill Simmons and Chuck Klosterman discussed Michael's legacy. Bill is a sports writer for ESPN and discusser of all things pop culture and Chuck is an author and over-thinker of all things pop culture. He literally wrote the book about dead musicians and their legacy. I thought I would post the podcast here rather than write everything they say and pass it off as my own. Michael would've wanted it that way. The MJ part lasts only for the first 30 minutes or so and then goes off in all sorts of tangents including Twitter, The L.A. Clippers, the writer's craft and everywhere in between.

I just booked a ticket to foggy London town for this summer. I won't
be there for more than a few hours but I'm looking forward to taking
about 100 pictures of this, my favorite building in London. See you
in August!

A Day At The Beach

A Day At The Beach, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I think my streamlining efforts have made this easier. I will be
trying to post a picture a day but i doubt I will be able to keep up
with that pace. This is a decent start.

Well It looks like test 3 failed aswell

Test Two

The first run was from my iPod this one is from my computer.  This was taken at Peggy's Cove last month and can be found in my Best of May album on Picasa.

An email upload test

I'm trying to stream-line my photo uploading so I can post more pics.
I might even try to do a daily photo, depending on how stream-lined it
gets. Try not to get your hopes up.
