DJ Milway

DJ Milway, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I had the pleasure of meeting my nephew, Declan James Milway, last
week. This picture was taken at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He
was being examined by a well manicured nurse. He is still ahead of
schedule by about a month and seems to be very healthy considering the
circumstances. He is going in for heart surgery this week which will
allow him to start putting on some weight. If you have any extra
thoughts and/or prayers this week Declan could use a few.

Shades of Blue

The Beach in Grand Bend. Reminds me of PEI except the water in Lake
Huron is fresher, warmer and filthy....oh and crowded.

Another Brick In the Wall

Another Brick In the Wall, originally uploaded by mmilway.

The final stop on my TRCT was the library to finally see the one thing
I hadn't anywhere in London. I spent 6 years in London and I didn't
see my own personal impact on the city or campus anywhere. Even the
bar where I carved my name into a table had been torn down years ago.
I had to go to the top floor of the stacks and look for a confusing
call number to find my impact. It was nice to see my thesis in print
and in "circulation". It was not so nice seeing how little it stood
out. The library had rows and rows of thesises that were all bound in
black with gold type on the spine. You couldn't really tell the
difference between the keeners and the students who just phoned it
in...thank goodness!

Ibuprofen For The Intellect

Ibuprofen For The Intellect, originally uploaded by mmilway.

This is another shot from my triumphant return campus tour. This is
an arcitechtual blunt force trauma compared to yesterday's picture.
This is where all the students go to cram for their exams.
Imagination and Inspiration is obviously detrimental to getting good
marks. That is what I blame it on at least.

Inflaming the Intellect

Inflaming the Intellect, originally uploaded by mmilway.

During my triumphant return to my alma mater I got to see the nicest
classroom on the campus. I sat on in one course in first year in this
room. It was an incredibly fitting location for one of the most
inspiring classes I took. The door was locked so I had to take this
one through the window.

8-Bit Trip

A swedish band, Rymdreglage, went a little crazy and created a ridiculous stop motion movie. I was gonna do this but i don't have any Lego or time...also I think the White Stripes did this 8 years ago. Still, its an incredible nod to old video games. Apparently it took them 1500 hours to produce. I don't doubt it.

Onterrible?

I just got back from my vacation in Grand Bend where I spent my time,
either on the beach or playing golf. Now I'm back at the grind stone
in PEI, the land of beaches and golf.

No Waffling On This Breakfast

I would like to thank everyone for all the support and good reviews that are streaming in from all over the cotty. This morning I made, what some are calling, "the greatest pancakes ever made". Dan Milway said that "he really out did himself" and "it'll be a long time before I forget those flap jacks". Demand for the item only grew throughout the morning and they were literally going like hot cakes. Mom Milway was heard saying "in my eyes, this meal only further solidified Michael's favorite son status" (Attributed). Peter Milway commented that "his commitment to perfection is an inspiration to all of us and will affect my future endeavors". Dad Milway was left speechless by the breakfast which is a feat that should speak for itself.

Thanks again for all the great reviews. I think making the pancakes was almost as enjoyable as hearing all the great things you all had to say about me.

The Blues Are Still Blue

The Blues Are Still Blue, originally uploaded by mmilway.

Saturday in London I snapped a few pictures on my walking tour. I
must say I do not miss Ontario's humidity. For the most part, London
has not changed at all which was both comforting and unsettling. It
was like visiting the set of Cheers. You take a picture of Norm's
stool but without the wise cracking drunks the whole place seems empty
and haunted...and not as funny.

Cool Video

I have not really cared about Cold Play in a while but they are one of those bands that continually produce cool videos. They were always billed as the next Radiohead and in this way they have lived up to their potential. They're latest video features some stop motion video and street chalk art, two of my passions. Unfortunately, stop motion video just jumped the shark. It was a good run.

You can find a nicer version here. EMI disabled the embedding for some reason. they hate free publicity.

Big Brother and Mother Nature Team Up

This was a temporary security camera put up on a tree across the
street from me it was very odd looking. Not because of the placement
but because there is so little crime here that there are virtually no
security cameras anywhere. Its really easy to steal stuff here!

This is the lighthouse at Point Prim on, you guessed it, PEI. I will
be In Ontario next week so maybe I will take some non-East Coast
picture...maybe.

The Big Pink

I just thought I would post something other that a picture here. This is a song I found on the internets this weekend and I liked it so much that I thought I would pass it on. Its called Dominos by british group The Big Pink (an awful name in my opinion. much like the SkyDome, it was dated the minute after they chose it). This song will most certainly show up in a movie or TV show at some point. For some reason it makes me want to go back to school just to walk around campus in slo-mo. It seems to be the perfect sound track to just giving high fives and doing the finger gun pointing thing to everyone you see...in slow-mo.

The Big Pink - Dominos

or find it here or find it on the bands website for free.

Early Work

Early Work, originally uploaded by mmilway.

I think this was off my first "roll" of digital film. I must've
switched something on the camera because I don't think I have seen
colours like this in my pictures in a long time.

Island Life

I would have never guessed it but PEI is an excellent place for beach
lovers! No pressure but If you want to go on a beach vacation but
can't leave the country because you fear foreigners or because you are
a felon, you should definitely consider PEI.

Straightening Province House

Straightening Province House, originally uploaded by mmilway.

They have been projecting a movie about PEI on to the Province house
all month. It gets a little annoying when they blast O Canada every
night. This was a month ago when they were setting up the
projectors. I thought it was some sort of a cool art project but no
they were just setting up a massive propaganda exhibition.
